CONTROL
Born from insecurity, usually because of trauma or scarcity. A need for control, starting from themself and their life and blossoming out to encompass their world. At the low end is seeking material goods or titles; at the high end are power in the abstract and absolute.
archetypal examples:

- someone seeking out the elixer of life for fear of death
- a reclusive mastermind who builds an empire to isolate themself from the potential of harm
- a widow/er who seeks to warp reality to bring back their lover
IDEALS
The character's belief about how the world is or how it should be. Religion, philosophy, personal credo. The character moves to push the world towards (or back to) their platonic ideal, and is ready to relinquish their life or personhood for their cause.
- a cult follower, or even leader, seeking to purge the world of nonbelievers
- a strict Darwinian
- a mad scientist looking to advance humanity at any cost
- a person who has taken it on themself to be a balancing force of nature
THRILL
Unbridled emotion, concern only with the character's end goal or their next fix. Vengeance, adrenalin, fear. Generally also includes incoherent insanity and bestial instinct.
- a hunter who seeks increasingly smarter prey
- someone seeking to punish a murder by eliminating the offender
- a person driven to insanity by an obsession over something or someone
- a caveman reacting to an advanced species
