{{Net Battle |series:Mega Man Battle Network;debut:Mega Man Battle Network (2001);home:MegaMan.EXE;crate:Futuristic; |images/stages/stage_net_battle.jpg |Net Battle is the home stage of MegaMan.EXE. |In its default state, the Net Battle stage largely resembles Final Destination or any omega stage with its single, flat plane. The field is just tall enough for its edges to be grabbed, but very little room to use for wall recovery. At the top of the stage's background is a custom gauge which fills over time. Once full, a battle chip menu appears in the background and an unknown operator begins selecting from an assortment of chips which cause stage effects: [*] Anubis will descend on one side of the stage, damaging fighters over time when they are on, or close to, the stage floor. Anubis himself also generally serving as an obstacle to movement, and can be destroyed to end the event early. [*] Geddon will occur, causing all panels to become cracked. When stood on for too long or stepped off of, these panels will briefly break and become holes that fighters can fall through. Broken panels eventually revert to normal, and may even block a fighter who has fallen under the stage from recovering. [*] Meteor will sometimes rain down on random panels, damaging and knocking back fighters hit by the blast. Panels that are about to be hit will flash briefly before being struck. [*] Rock Cube will be summoned, one for each side, serving as sturdy obstacles that block projectiles and movement. They can be destroyed but generally take more effort than is worth it. [*] Poltergeist lifts any existing rock cubes (or anubis) and launches it at the center of the "opponent's" side of the stage. Only has a chance to happen if there is an active rock cube or anubis to affect. This event can "fail" if the object is destroyed after the event is determined but before it takes effect. [*] Area Grab will steal one row of panels from a random side, dealing minor damage and decent knockup on impact. Only one event will happen at a time, but the cracked panels caused by geddon will remain throughout the match until broken, so may compound with other events. The stage's battlefield version has additional panels floating in the air, while its omega version looks largely the same, just without stage events. {{Theme of Mega Man Battle Network (TGS 2002 mix)|https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x15Usfkqehc {Running Through Cyberspace (RockMan.EXE 15th Arrange)|https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx4f42c-cjk {Operation! As the games progressed, variations were introduced such as starting with alternate floor tiles, missing panels, and a version where the player is flanked from both sides. In all versions, players would see themselves on the red side to the left (or the middle when flanked in Battle Network 5), while enemies would take the blue field to the right side. Combatants are usually limited to movement only on their respective side of the field, with some attacks allowing them to temporarily invade each other's space. Panels could also be stolen via certain effects, increasing an attacker's space and thereby their options, or even relinquished at times in exchange for a temporary boost. Stolen panels eventually revert to their original owner's custody, though an opponent could prolong their ownership by standing directly on top of them. Alternate panels of different types grant effects when stepped/stood on, such as damage, healing, movement impairment, etc. Most famous are broken panels, which do not allow most entities to step on them by default. This format was eventually replaced in the Mega Man Star Force series by a 3x5 grid and a vertical battle format. {{Normal|images/stages/stage_net_battle.jpg {{[*] -
